On Monday, some of the co-hosts on “The View” voiced their displeasure at how Vice President Mike Pence did not stand when athletes from North and South Korea marched during the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics. Pence only stood when the U.S. team entered the arena.
Co-host Sunny Hostin pointed to when Pence walked out of an Indianapolis Colts game because players protested the national anthem.
“I thought that Mike Pence said that it was inappropriate to make political statements at sporting events,” she said. “Wasn’t he that guy who walked out of the football game because people were kneeling and not standing?”
“If you are in Korea, you need to stand up,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg added. “You need to stand up and show respect.”
Co-host Meghan McCain did not agree with the rest of the panel, saying there is a difference between disagreeing with someone else’s politics and showing support for a dictatorship.
“People came out together, he should have had enough respect to say, ‘You know what? Maybe they are doing a good thing for themselves and maybe we can sit down with them at some point.’ But you can’t have it both ways,” Goldberg rebutted.
McCain said if she was there, she would not have stood because of all the atrocities occurring daily within North Korea.
